This week I celebrated two years of Planning Pretty. Well not quite celebrated, but used the anniversary as motivation to get things in order. A few weeks ago, I shared my hopes to put things into motion. I debated completely shifting the focus of my brand away from my blog or recommitting with a newly emerged motive.
Well I chose a new motive :)
For a while, I’ve searched for a way to identify my niche. I write primarily about home decor, mixed with entertaining and sprinkles with recipes, shopping and travels. I style decor and tables to support my business. It’s all lifestyle, but there is an underlying theme. My perspective. I write everything from my point of view and that is my niche.
I am a modern housewife. A Harvard grad, going against the grain, with a preference for domestic lifestyle over the corporate office. A romantic that loves being married and celebrating life at home. I have an affinity for perfecting the home and building a happy lifestyle focused on home decor and how I entertain. I represent the everyday woman who wants to live in a beautiful space and create beautiful memories in her home.
I say modern for many reasons. I am a millennial, a new generation with new strengths and challenges. I look quite different from the typical poster for housewives and Martha Stewart. This is a new age where women are fighting to do it all and I’m here to say it’s okay if you don’t want to. It’s also okay if you want to juggle it all and feel lost on how to do so. And, it’s okay if you want a happy balance like I do by being your own work-at-home boss in preparation for a family. No group should feel shame. I hope that my work illustrates there is pride to be sprouted from our homes and how we care for them, plain and simple.
So here’s to blogging being a medium to get this ball rolling. The past two years were wonderful (thank you!) and I welcome you to join me on the ride ahead.
Have a wonderful weekend and stay tuned for fresh posts next week!
