A couple of months ago, I discovered a wonderful link up all about promoting happiness. Erin of Artsocial created this Be Happy weekly opportunity for bloggers to post anything and everything about being happy. The prompt is open-ended, really allowing for the blogger to write or show what happiness means to them.
Today is my first time participating. So I wanted to keep it simple by creating visual representation of what makes me happy. I grabbed objects around my home, including one of my favorite books and laid them out for a happy photo shoot.
Being known as a planner sometimes comes back around to bite me. It creates the assumption that I’m somehow all-knowing and thus have no excuse to ever not have a plan. It’s a lot of pressure. Sometimes I don’t have a plan.
But, I think I’m more prepared now to answer the next time I’m asked, “So what’s the plan?” I’ll respond, “To be happy”. I don’t think most people would say this, but it’s true, it’s always been true. I’ve cared about nothing else for quite some time because nothing else really matters to me. I write this blog because it makes me happy to share with all of you what I love: decorating, baking, celebrating and organizing. You can have the best career, lots of money and/or success and be very & deeply unhappy. That’s why I stopped pursuing everything that sits on the surface. Thanks Harvard for making me learn the hard way. Sure it’s great if those things come, but I’m going to be much happier with a good companion, freedom and creativity.
So I toss this back to all of you. What does it mean to be happy and what is your plan to get there? Discuss in the comments :)
