I’m doing a super DIY Valentine’s this year. For our first “married” Valentine’s day I just really wanted it to be a relaxing evening at home. I’m cooking, baking and decorating all for this occasion I’ve never made so many crafts for one day in my life! Well, take that back, my wedding which I will share with you tomorrow!
My inspiration for the menu? The most romantic city in the world. Paris of course! Since we aren’t able to travel to France this Valentine’s day, I thought I’d bring some of it’s cuisine to our home.
With a French menu and a little “la vie en rose” in the background…
If you don’t know yet, I love lobster and my husband does too. It’s the epitome of our perfect meal. We bought two huge lobster tails from Whole Foods and I will prepare this delicious Julia Child recipe!
You can’t have Valentine’s Day without chocolate! I’m using this Tarte Tout Chocolate recipe from the infamous Laduree. Although it’s a little advanced, I highly recommend this cookbook if you’re every craving French pastries!
It wouldn’t be Valentine’s Day without a little bubbly right? My husband is great at picking out wine, champagne, beer, really any alcohol. I’m so excited to try this and it’s pink!
This is what I have so far for the place settings. I still need to write out the menu, arrange the napkins and add our names, but I think it looks good so far. Can you tell that I really love glitter?
And I made a DIY heart garland to hang over the dining table inspired by Oh Happy Day’s post. Of course I added my own flair of lace, washi tape and more glitter!
I promise to take lots of pictures once I’ve finished decorating and of course the meal! Where are the flowers you may ask? Well I’m hoping my husband sends over a nice bouquet. Did I mention I’m baking shortbread cookies and decorating with royal icing too? Yeah, move over Martha Stewart!
