Mr. Planning Pretty and I went on the perfect date a couple weeks ago! We’re both makers, so when we came across this date on HowAboutWe for Couples, we knew we had to try it. We learned how to make our own laser-cut maps taught by Woodcut Maps of SF. It’s an awesome company right in our backyard that creates wood maps of any location in the world. Plus it’s operated by a super sweet husband and wife team. I think our next maps might be Disneyland and Paris :)
We chose the place where it all began, our high school in Long Beach, CA! It was quite the tedious process, but we had a blast. Each piece of wood had to be placed onto the pre-cut board and these are thin and delicate pieces. We’re both very meticulous people and working to complete the puzzle of map was surprisingly relaxing.
The sweetest part of the whole project, is placing a heart on the location of our high school. It’s been eight years since we started dating, and twelve since we first met as freshmen! This was the perfect way to commemorate our hometown and the start of our lives together.
After a couple hours, all the steps were completed and we had our finished map! It turned out wonderfully and it’s something we’ll be able to hang in our home.
This was one of our favorites dates from HowAboutWe! The site has great date suggestions in the bay area and other major cities. We love being members and getting to pick unique experiences, like film festivals, new restaurants, and crafting. We can’t wait to go on our next date!
