This idea came to me a few months ago and I thought I might try it out in the new year. I love collecting dishes, linens, glassware. Also, I love taking photos of anything that’s beautiful. So, I thought why not create a photograph series of intimate table settings at home. Partially for practice and partially for fun, this series is meant to showcase a typical Sunday. Sunday is the start and end to our week. It’s when we relax, unwind, have informal and formal celebrations. Sunday dinner has cultural significance in our country as well. Quite it’s my favorite day to entertain. Whether it’s enjoying an afternoon tea, celebrating a birthday, or simply having supper with your family, Sunday and the table are connected. It might be the one day out of the week we don’t eat on the couch or out at restaurants. Somehow we respect this day most out all others and gather at the table.
As I said, this is meant to be a photographic series, not a long detail of how-to or list of products to buy. I do hope it inspires you to set your family table next Sunday. Today’s table was completely inspired by the cold rainy weather of January. My husband makes a wonderful French onion soup this time of year and we enjoy warming up with it on Sunday nights. It’s a casual meal, but we enjoy using our French-style soup tureen. There’s pink glassware, gold flatware and colorful napkins.
