Have last minute guests coming over for dinner? Or maybe an intricate menu that won’t leave you much time to decorate? Don’t fret, if you have 15 minutes you can set a beautiful table!
I don’t always have hours to set up a dinner table. Sometimes we’re a gone all day at work, running errands or entertaining guests around town. I get home and I have just a few minutes to get the dining table ready. No time for DIYs, personalized place cards or fancy floral arrangements. But, if I pull out a few essentials, I’ll still have a beautiful table!
Table Setting Essentials
Always start with a great canvas. Whether that’s your favorite tablecloth or a dining table that is pretty on its own. I have my favorite sparkly table cloth I bought during the holidays. The glitter is subtle enough to use with all of our dishes yet has more pizazz than a plain white cloth. Yet, nothing is wrong with classic white!
Follow up with a simple place setting. I like to use our china anytime we have guests. It’s a simple and subtle pattern by Lenox. It can easily be paired with any color, but I love a clean table palette like this. Select complimentary flatware and glassware based on what you’re serving.
Add a quick accent to your table like a pair of boxwood plants, like this from Pier 1. Candelabras, simple bouquets and elegant napkins are the perfect little accents.
Minimal elegance is perfect for any occasion. It’s a wonderful foundation to build onto if you have a bit more time. It’s easy to start with a basic table setting like this and add more flowers, color and personality.
