The Oscars are coming up this Sunday! Host a wonderful little dinner party and then enjoy the show.
It’s all in the details for pulling off any themed party. Make your space feel inviting by setting the table with your favorite china, silverware and glasses. Your guests will love that you are willing to share your favorite serveware.
For this party, classic styles rule. A black tablecloth is an entertaining staple to keep on hand. It’s simple, chic, and like any tablecloth will protect your precious dining table from any scratches or stains.
Create a focal point for your party. In this case, Oscar-winner Audrey Hepburn graces the party with her gaze. Add party decor like a simple garland for a fun festive look. You can DIY or visit a party/craft store for premade party decor if you’re short on time.
At each place setting incorporate a special detail like these bow-tie napkins. It doesn’t have to be extravagant or complicated. Sometimes the simplest details have the most wow factor for your guests.
Share a few bottles of your favorite wine. Try to have at least one red and one white available to cater to everyone’s taste. If you’re worried about any spills or accidents on your furniture then stick to white wine.
For the Oscars, using classic white china is a wonderful fit. Let the dresses and tuxedos inspire your table design. The awards always showcase the most elegant styles of fashion and your dining table should mirror the tone.
Add a little sparkle to the table with gold stars or confetti. Incorporate gold in to your bar decor and appetizer dishes as well!
A napkin folded into the shape of the bow tie is really simple to do! Start with a large square dinner napkin and select a napkin ring. Next, fold the napkin into a smaller square. Try to keep the corners as even as possible. Pull one corner through the napkin ring and stop in the middle. Fluff the points and corners to create half of the bow. Do the same to the other side.
Creating a bow-tie for each place setting is a wonderful and simple idea! Using a wired satin ribbon you can create a tuxedo bow tie for your stemware glasses. Following the same steps for tying a bow-tie accessory, cut the ribbon slightly longer on one end. Fold the short side of the ribbon to create half of the bow-tie. The wire really helps to keep the shape as you proceed. Pull the long side of the ribbon around the bottom of the first half. Fold and pull through the middle. Adjust the ends and tighten the bow. If one side is a little uneven, you can trim with fabric or sharp scissors.
As a bonus during the show, have guests predict who will win in each category. You can use small inexpensive chalkboards to share your predictions. Keep track of the score and give the winner a bottle of wine at the end of the night!
