So I have to admit, I’m not excited about this Sunday’s Super Bowl. We’re 49er fans . . .
Putting our bitter resentment of the Seahawks aside (and my long standing dislike of the Patriots) we are going to tune in as usual. After all I am looking forward to seeing Katy Perry perform!
Since we aren’t having huge party, I’ve set up a simple beer bar for my husband. He is a huge beer enthusiast, home brewer and someday will be a cicerone. If you’re a beer and spirit fan definitely check out his Instagram, Shot and a Brew! So if anything, the Super Bowl is a beer holiday in our home and requires the proper set up.
If you’re gathering friends over to watch the game, turn your little soiree into a beer tasting party! Pick up a few highly rated craft beers, Belgians and classic American brews. We have this awesome Beer Tasting Tool Kit that lets us stage blind tastings. Once everyone shares their tasting notes, have the closest beer expert give a run down of the flavors and ingredients. You’ll be amazed at what goes into crafting delicious beer.
My husband received a Draftmark Home Draught Beer System for Christmas last year and it makes serving small kegs of beer so much easier. If you’re in Target some point between now and Sunday, you should see a giant display of these awesome little machines. It is small enough to store in the fridge and will stay cold during parties. There are limited number of beers currently available since it’s new, but the selection will definitely grow. We plan to experiment refilling with home brew once the Budweiser is all gone!
We also added a few shelves to store growlers, beakers for brewing and our collection of tap handles. We found a wall beer opener (in gold!) that is so convenient. I also have a special “Biere” glass, with gold trim of course, for my beer enjoyment. Beer can be girly ladies! I have an old post (don’t laugh) that shares my favorite girly beers ala two Super Bowls ago :)
Even though we aren’t big fans of the teams playing in Sunday’s big game, we will have a wonderful time trying new beers. It’s still an excuse to relax on the sofa and laugh at commercials. That’s the best part anyways, right?!
