Allow me to interrupt the regularly scheduled Valentine’s post to bring you a Mardi Gras cocktail! That’s right Fat Tuesday is next week and I couldn’t let the holiday pass without posting. My mom would have a fit :)
I gathered a few of my favorite cocktail ingredients and threw them all into one drink. There’s a little French, Creole, and Southern inspiration all blended together. Gin is my usual poison of choice and this recipe adds a little glam to its flowery taste. Casa & Company shared the recipe yesterday and I’m happy to now share it with all of you today!
Bar Accessories by Planning Pretty
Ingredients
1 ounce of St. Germain Elderflower Liqueur
1 1/2 ounces of Gin
1/2 ounce Lillet Rose’ Apertiff
Sparkling berry juice (like Trader Joe’s French Berry)
Lemon juice
A splash of bourbon if you’re adventurous
Select a champagne coupe or flute for the cocktail. Pour the 1 ounce of St-Germain and 1 1/2 ounces of Gin into a cocktail shaker with ice. Shake vigorously then strain the mixture into the glass. Add the 1/2 ounce of Lillet Rose’ and then fill with berry juice, almost to the rim.
To finish off, squeeze a little lemon juice into the glass to brighten the fruity and floral flavors. Again if you’re feeling a little adventurous and in the Mardi Gras spirit, add a splash of bourbon for sweetness and a kick!
I hope you have a chance to try this out this weekend and this Tuesday! Let me know what you think of the recipe :)
