Alt Summit is one of those conferences that just keeps on giving. While attending last June, I met an amazing artist, Hillary Butler. She was one of the friendliest and most welcoming attendees. She caught up with me later this fall and asked me to style a holiday party using some of her artwork as inspiration. Easy! Her pieces are full of color, not to mention my favorites like mint, aqua, coral and pink. So, I styled our vintage bar with lots of festive gold barware and decor plus her paintings as the stars!
Like my Thanksgiving table last week, I used plenty of color for this bar setting. You can mix a neutral like gold to keep things consistent and then go wild with different shades. I included various hues in the turquoise family, plus corals. Hillary’s paintings bring the entire palette together!
These small canvases (4″x4″) make great holiday gifts too! Wrap and tie with a little twine for the perfect hostess, coworker, or blogger gift. Her paintings come in larger sizes and as prints too in various color schemes. The Lissa Frank painting in beautiful shades of purple is one of my favorites!
She also illustrated these awesome cocktail recipe cards which are perfect to share with party guests. I set out the cards along with a suggested glass and guests can try making their own cocktails! At the end of the night everyone can keep a copy of their favorite recipe and remake the drink at home.
This holiday season remember to keep your bar stocked, have pretty glassware handy and use artwork as decor! Stop by Hillary’s blog for more behind the scenes of her work and support by liking on Facebook.
