The pandemic really shifted how families play. For my toddler son especially, we are extremely careful with how much we interact out in public. That means we spend a lot of time at home and keeping a three-year-old entertained is no easy feat! We have toys in his bedroom and also keep a lot of his Lovevery toys organized in our family room. He’s a high energy kid and loves to dump all the things at once and then concentrates on learning the numbers, alphabet, building with blocks, whatever. Usually, it gets dumped all over our sofa. He takes over the whole couch and then there’s nowhere for us parents to sit. So, I’m excited we were gifted this beautiful play mat from Totter & Tumble and their collaboration with the infamous English design brand Morris & Co. You may recognize some of the iconic vintage patterns from traditional wallpaper. The collection just launched, and it does ship to the U.S!
I have loved the “Blackthorn” pattern for as long as I can remember. I actually really want to incorporate it into the design our Fairytale Cottage too. The thing about kids’ decor that bugs me is it’s usually so tacky. I’m sorry but I have to say it. We have tried to stay away from the plastics, overstimulating colors and prints, not to mention traditional “boy colors”, so that our home still feels like our home. Milo may have an assortment of toys and sometimes they’re all over the place, but at least they are made well and look stylish. The mess isn’t so bad when it’s well made. It does tend to cost a little more, but we also buy less toys too.
The round Blackthorn Playmat ties in so well to our kid’s decor philosophy and home’s style. It’s beautiful, and you wouldn’t know that it was meant for kids on a first glance! The best part is that it’s reversible. The beautiful dark floral pattern on side and a white and gold “Standen” leaf print on the other. It’s so elegant and unbelievably comfortable. The playmat has a mattress-foam feel which is perfect for our hard floors. Milo can roll around, lay down while he races cars or gets comfy reading. This playmat is very versatile.
So grateful to have this addition to our family room. I also plan to use it underneath his pickler triangle and slide for extra comfort and safety. Our pup has even tried to make it his new nap area, but I’m teaching him to go back to his own bed. I hope this helps encourage you to try it for your own home. I love supporting brands that design beautiful pieces for children.
This product was a gift, and I was asked to share with my audience. All opinions are genuinely my own and expressed in collaboration with Totter & Tumble and Morris & Co for GSPR LLC.
