Hello everyone it’s time for part two of the studio storage update! Yesterday I shared pics of the new shelving unit, a convertible dining table and my process for organizing/sorting with post-its. Today I’m featuring the craft cabinet which holds all my paints, balloons, florist supplies, and more. Every item has it’s own little home!
I found all the storage pieces at IKEA. I love shopping for organization furniture there because it’s inexpensive and has tons of customizable options. Storage needs is one category that changes a lot of over time. I don’t recommend investing in pricey storage furniture pieces unless you’re settled down in your long-term home. Having pieces you can switch out easily as your storage needs change gives the utmost piece of mind and flexibility.
The Sprutt cabinet was perfect for my needs. I have a bunch of small supplies that can get tossed about and disorganized very easily. Instead, I have each drawer properly labeled and categorized so that I don’t waste any time. I used a 50 lb cardstock to create the labels and used a metallic gold Gelly Roll pen to match the handles. The cabinet came with neon colored labels, which were pretty but not my style.
Originally the handles were white to match the metal cabinet. I have always loved a Hollywood Regency look and Dorothy Draper’s designs. So I spray painted the handles gold for a little pop and luxe. I love that the cabinet looks like a chic set of library filing drawers. The gold paint gives the illusion of brass handles. I used Krylon metallic spray paint in gold for this warm finish.
I”m happy to have all my storage in place. I’m moving onto decor and little accents next. I need to curate all my different prints, select rugs and construct my backdrop hanging system. More updates coming soon!
