Hello! I’m excited to share another studio update today :)
This is a big one, still not the final reveal, but so much progress has been made these past few weeks. The walls are pink and white thanks to Devine Color. My rugs are on their way and my curtains are up. No longer is everything scattered all over the place because my furniture is up and ready! I partnered with IKEA to provide storage solutions for Planning Pretty HQ. Even in our home, I love using IKEA for shelving and cabinets. I hate clutter and random objects sitting on the floor or stuffed into corners. That is not organizing! Give stuff a home and put it back when you’re done, is my motto. Now you get a sense of how our household is ran :)
For my office, I wanted to apply the same principles. Every prop, craft supply, book and can of paint needed a place to go. I first took an estimate of floor plan. What storage solutions could I fit in the space? The biggest challenge was maintaining my photo wall, the blank wall to the left. I need the utmost flexibility so I can shoot table decor, products or DIYs with backdrops or a plain wall. So I placed the Norden gateleg table, which folds and collapses with ease on my photo wall. Paired with two folding chairs, I can easily clear everything out of the way. The table opens up to a dining table, perfect for my styling projects!
All other walls were somewhat available, as long as navigation could be possible. A bookcase/large shelf was definitely needed for plates, glassware, books, vases and other props. The Fjalkinge shelving unit with drawers solved all those needs and provides organization for my completed party and paper crafts. I wanted a clean white shelf to sit quietly against a white wall. In the future I may spray paint it a different hue, but I really love the clean look it adds to the space.
To organize the shelf, I categorized everything on to post-it notes. I placed the post-its where the different items may fit. Next I started arranging all my stuff onto the shelves, but not quite styling yet. Over the next few days, I’ll go back and edit the shelves, remove the post-its and bring in more design elements.
Tomorrow I’ll have more tips from my organization process and how I customized the Sprutt cabinet to have a Hollywood Regency style!
