It’s time for spring cleaning guys! With the end of a dark and dreary winter in site, it’s time to brighten up our homes. Nothing feels better than having an organized, dust free place!
My husband and I started our spring cleaning this past weekend. We went through each room and put away anything that was out-of-place. You know how in the midst of a hectic week things just aren’t put back where they should go? It’s so important not to let that build up. And if it does build up (as a pile of clothes usually does), make sure to straighten up before pulling out any cleaning products.
Straightening up can take up a lot of energy. It may include involve laundry, dishwashing and sorting mail. Which brings me to my next point. Do not try to spring clean everything in one day! Why? Because you’ll do a half-assed (excuse my French) job. You burn a million calories deep cleaning a house and it can take hours to finish. Split the cleaning up into a couple of days and you’ll do a much better job.
On your second cleaning day, go through all of your hidden nooks and corners. Kitchen cabinets, closets, refrigerator and any other storage where junk is hidden. Sort through one by one and get rid of anything taking up precious space. Donate, recycle or trash all the excess.
Once your home is cleansed of unnecessary, unused or unwanted items, then begin the actual cleaning. Round up your favorite disinfectant products and go to town! I love using anything lavender-scented. I highly suggest cleaning room to room. It helps make the task feel less daunting. Vacuum, mop floors, wipe down every surface and scrub!
When everything is spick and span, take time to style your home. Rearrange your coffee table, bookshelves, night stands and any other visible surface. Look to your favorite magazines, pins or Planning Pretty, wink wink, for inspiration!
Here’s a recap of the spring cleaning schedule:
Bonus Tip: Play your favorite music or have a Netflix on in the background to keep you going!
I hope this helps all of you feel more at ease with the hovering task of spring cleaning. Take a few days or spread out over two weekends (like me!) and your will be pretty in no time!
