What does the home of Planning Pretty look like you ask? It’s a work in progress on my standards, but it definitely feels a lot like home now. We spent the past year really scrutinizing each piece we brought in and made sure that our bright personalities came through in each space.
Many of you have asked me to share photos of my home so here it goes. I want to emphasize how affordable all the pieces we’ve chosen. Seriously, were young and mindful of our spending. Plus we know this isn’t our final house so we didn’t want to invest in our “dream” pieces of furniture yet. Who knows what our future home will look like!
With small spaces, there isn’t always a formal entryway. Sometimes you walk in and your just in the middle of the first room (like here our washer/dryer is just behind that door). To create the feeling of an entryway, we bought table with storage for our keys, sunglasses, and dog leash. Functional yet also the personal with our wedding photo and a few accessories. The antique mirror is my favorite part! Having a mirror in our entryway makes it so easy to take one last look before going out the door.
Well I can’t say too much our kitchen. As with most apartments, the kitchen can’t be altered too much. Man if I could, this kitchen would be completely white with stainless steel appliances. Or a cute Smeg fridge in a pastel color :)
We like to keep ours as clear as possible, storing most appliances in cabinets. Something about a clean and clutter-free kitchen makes me so excited.
If you’re a regular reader, you’ve seen the dining room before. The chairs originally had beige cushions that drove me nuts. So my husband and I did a little DIY and re-upholstered the cushions to a bright peacock blue. Favorite piece, the Audrey Hepburn canvas print of course! Plus white hydrangeas have taken over as my favorite centerpiece.
And the new living room arrangement at the moment. I mentioned last week that were purchasing a few pieces of furniture. My new loveseat, which I’ve mentioned wanting to buy over and over. Well now it’s here! Still playing around with the floorplan, but at the moment were really enjoying this conversational setup. As you can see, some of the decor from a party is still hanging :)
Long time readers also remember my office decor series. It’s still bright as ever! The idea here was to create a vivid space so I absolutely would not doze off in the middle of work. There aren’t any windows in here so the bright green plus bright chandelier keep me quite alert. Since we’re in an apartment, I used temporary adhesive for the wallpaper.
Believe or not, my husband wanted this purple & grey color scheme for our bedroom. This is another space in which I’d love to rearrange furniture but the layout is a little asymmetrical. I love grey and white (my future home will probably be just that). I am in the market for new bedding, well, because it’s been a year and I”m sort of tired of looking at this one. If you’re wondering why the bedskirt looks nuts, blame on this little one….
What can I say, our Sprinkles rules the house and for whatever reason loves nesting under the bed.
So that’s the progress from the past year. I’m very choosing about what comes into the house and also mindful of our non-homeowner status. People say it looks great, but I am quite the perfectionist and keep tweaking everything in our home. I’m focused on finding artwork, but haven’t found something I love just yet, hence the mostly blank walls. Either way, my husband and I our proud of our small city apartment and happy to entertain in our home.
