There’s nothing I love more than curling up in a corner to read a magazine or book. It’s one of my favorite weekend and after work activities. I usually sit my little settee in the living room, but it can be noisy in there (especially during football season).
So I made it a goal of mine to create a little reading corner in our bedroom. Nice and quiet, plus perfect for creating a new morning ritual. I knew I would want to incorporate the 2014 pantone color of the year radiant orchid into the design. There’s already several shades of purple in the space, and I always love adding more!
I knew the corner would need extra lighting especially for reading in the evening. Easy solution! One of my favorite places to find great lighting is Lamps Plus. They have everything, in every color imaginable with the Color + Plus collection, especially radiant orchid!
I browsed online and fell in love with this colorblock drum lamp shade from Lamps Plus. It is the perfect blend of pink and purple that truly captures the colors of an orchid. Once the lamps shade arrived I picked up the sweet little bouquet of tulips to compliment.
The actual lamp base I selected from Lamps Plus is perfect for a reading space. I loved the brushed nickel color, it’s a great neutral that I can eventually move to any room. But, my favorite design element is the swing arm! I can swivel the lamp to shine at any angle. It really brightens up the entire bedroom. No more late night eye strain :)
I knew I wouldn’t need just a lamp to make my reading corner complete. To my excitement, Lamps Plus carries great affordable pieces of accent furniture too. I found the perfect little side table to rest my books and eyeglasses, flowers and tea.
I love my new little space. It’s a haven within our apartment. In addition to reading, it’s become a great spot to reflect and unwind. And what do you know! Sprinkles has found the perfect viewing spot for my reading corner.
Now, I can stack my collection of decor, craft and entertaining books at my fingertips for inspiration. Just goes to show, you don’t need a large space to carve out a personal area just for you. Next I have to work on my husband’s condensed man cave…
Thank you to Lamps Plus for helping decorate my little reading corner!
*Note* I was not paid to write this post, but did receive the products. I’ve always been a fan of Lamps Plus lighting and was honored when asked to design a radiant orchid space.
