Decorating (or re-decorating) a home can seem overwhelming, so it’s best to design room by room. With all of our essential pieces in the rest of the apartment, I set out to complete our home office first!
I am the primary user of the office. I organize mail, maintain our calendar, create to do lists and work on this blog! We’re both rarely need it at the same time so it was best to design for one user.
In addition to functionality, I wanted the room to look pretty! In our building, we are a bit restricted with painting so I sought out a low-cost solution . . . wallpaper!
We used adhesive squares to put up the wallpaper so that it can be easily removed. This design creates a beautiful and chic accent wall. I chose green because it’s said to help boost creativity and relax. For impact, it’s best to use just one color accent paired with a neutral like white.
Storage was another must on our list! I found a great foldable hutch at The Container Store. We customized the billy bookcase from Ikea and added adorable knobs from Anthropologie.
The chandelier from Ikea was a bit of a DIY project. It’s meant to be installed into a recessive light in the ceiling, which we didn’t have. So we bought a silver swag kit from Home Depot and hid the wires behind the bookcase. My husband found the great office chair at Cost Plus. It adds comfort and a modern touch with the chrome accents.
After weeks of planning, here’s the finished look!
I decided to split our office reveal into two posts. The second will feature all the details for keeping the office organized!
