This past weekend I experience a serious case of decorator’s block. What started as a simple decision to choose a pillow, turned into a fury to redo everything. Since the latter is not an option, I have to bring together the elements we already own with accessories.
I’ve decided to focus in on pillow designs, rugs and wall art. I already purchased the wall art. I brought home two different styles to see how they look in our living room. To be honest, I really like both! We really shouldn’t keep both, but I can’t decide. Whichever we pick dictates the pillows and rug.
So far I three options, all including pillows from Skoope Home on Etsy and Rugs from Lulu & Georgia. The loveseat is my favorite little seat that’s been on my wish list for months from Worldmarket. The three canvases are also from Worldmarket, purchased during an awesome 50% off sale this weekend.
This first idea a great mix of patterns that are “soft” compared to more rigid geometric designs. I love that there is still a vintage feel and I think the rug would pair well with our dining area’s china cabinet. Down the road I would add another set of pillows, more art work, etc.
Would you believe that this is my husband’s favorite?! We both love bold color and desperately want to brighten up the living room. This combination would definitely add a modern feel to the room. I choose the Blue Serendipity canvas because it’s composed of hues from our dining room and living current color schemes. It’s one solution to creating a more cohesive look between the spaces.
This third idea, although similar to the first, has more of a romantic look. The floral rug is feminine and encompasses many of the colors present in our living room and the wall art. I like the idea of incorporating a geometric pattern to make the space a little more interesting.
Would love to hear which one is your favorite! Oh and try to ignore the purple flowers in the photo to avoid bias for the second design. Thanks!
