A little deco fifties via Maison-Deco
One of my best friends, Alli, recently moved to a new apartment. The past couple months I’ve helped her figure out what she needs and how much she can afford to spend. We’re starting with her living room since it’s a common space and needs the most work! The sofa was first and biggest purchase so everything else is down hill from there!
As you’ve probably experienced when decorating a space, you have to be open to compromise especially if you’re on a budget. We originally started out with a very earthy color scheme: rich blues, golden browns and clay reds. However, when we looked over her budget and examined fabric swatches, the winning sofa, World Market’s Luxe 3-seat sofa in mink grey. Not to worry, when this happens just go back to your inspiration and be sure to maintain your favorite elements.

In this case, we’re maintaing the original style with yellow, turquoise and a little red orange. With a grey sofa as a focal point, these variations of the primary colors will really pop and brighten her space. She’s also a fan of midcentury furniture so we’re hoping to find a few pieces!
I’m looking forward to pulling together her different pieces and creating a fun & functional space. Can’t wait to show you all the progress so far!
