Spring is pretty much here folks and that means it’s time to bring in some color!
I have to admit our living room took a very dark and dreary turn this winter. Lots of grey and neutrals after the Christmas tree came down. I couldn’t stand it any longer. I’m so happy to partner again with Better Homes & Gardens products at Walmart to brighten up our home again!
So today, I’m going to share three simple and affordable ways to add color to your home. No need to repaint the walls, buy a new sofa or purchase expensive rugs. Everything you see, the entire total, is just over $100! That’s including the pillows, candles, and rugs. Check out the full product list at the end of the post. Basically skip going out one night this week and fix up the living room instead :)
#1 Pillows, pillows, pillows!
It really is the easiest way to add color to any space. Pillows come in many shapes, sizes and shades at prices in every budget. Choose a color palette that speaks to you. I always gravitate towards blues for our home. Try mixing in complimentary colors (opposites on the color wheel) like corals and yellows. If you love deep blues, then pair with tangerine or peach. If you love pink, mix with natural greens. Really you can throw the entire rainbow on your sofa, especially if it’s a neutral color.
#2 Add an accent rug
Small accent rugs don’t break the bank, add color and cover up odd spots or terrible carpet. Use underneath or in front of accent tables, vanities, bars, or door entries. You can brighten up a dark hallway or even designate a spot for shoes to sit at the end of the day. Layering accent rugs looks beautiful as well. Try placing a small shag rug on top of a vibrant flat-weave rug for added texture and personality.
#3 Strategically place colorful candles
This is definitely the most inexpensive way to add color to any dreary corner. Collect candles in your favorite shades and decorate bookshelves, coffee tables and little nooks in your home. Use a small platter, marble board, vintage tray or other dish as a base. Place candles near the entrance of your home to create a welcoming entry for you and your family! Use pillar candles in varying heights for a completed look or use a decorate floral votive holder in a beautiful color as a chic accent. Place a candle in any area void of color. Bathroom counters, window sills, entry tables are all great locations.
It really is that simple! Keeping a set of colorful decor accents to switch in and out with the seasons creates versatility for you home. Many do the same with bedding, bathroom linens and dishes. Collect a range of decor in a rainbow of colors to experiment with different palettes. Choose colors and shades that mirror your wardrobe or favorite flowers. Your everyday choices and preferences are the best source for color inspiration!
