Summer is quickly approaching! It is quite easily my favorite season of the year. I love the long days, flowers, fresh foods and enjoying ice cream in the sun. We have spent about half the year so far at the cottage and the other half back in Long Beach. One of the things we’re so excited to do at the cottage is decorate the outdoor spaces. The courtyard garden is underway and I’ve planted veggies that will be ready for harvest this summer. We’re also starting to grill outdoors more on the bbq pit and Joe is browsing around for all the cool bbq gear. We installed solar-powered bistro lights in the courtyard from Brightech and it’s made a world of a difference. It was so dark outside (there’s no street lights nearby) that we always worried what creature might be watching us in the dark!
In getting ready for summer, I’ve deeply researched outdoor furniture for the deck. It is a narrow space, about 8 feet wide all around the living room space. We really want to create a space to lounge, take naps and entertain since it’s the most private outdoor space on the property. My preferred layout is to place a L-sectional in the shady corner of the deck and refinish our vintage octagon coffee table for outdoors. It’s the perfect spot to enjoy a glass of wine and cheeses without the sun blinding us. Milo typically takes over the other half of the deck with his colorful chalk drawings.
I’m happy to be partnering again with Joss & Main to add some decor to the deck. They are having a big sale going on today and tomorrow for all kinds of home decor including outdoor! I have a few favorites picked out to add more cottage charm and pieces to fit our family-friendly lifestyle.
Definitely check out the sale today and tomorrow (April 28th and 29th) and I hope you find some beautiful affordable pieces for your home too!
