A new country has recently popped up on my travel wish list. I’m intrigued by movies like Eat Pray Love, 100 Foot Journey, Outsourced and the Exotic Marigold Hotel to visit India or any of the nearby islands. The colors, fabrics and gold accents are so inspiring to me!
In my dream home there is design an exotic tea room, plush with pillows, rugs, bold colors and ample windows. Preferably separated from the rest of the home, this would be the perfect place for to unwind, drink tea and be surrounded by flowers. Just for fun I created an inspiration board with furniture available on Chairish. I started with their collection of accent chairs and designed the space around a colorful French chair. The quality of these vintage or slightly-used pieces is amazing for the price! I saved a ton of great pieces in addition to these below on my favorites page too.
Products shown above are from Chairish:
- White retro flower chandelier, $140
- Embroidered leather pouf in lavender leather, $200
- Antique copper teakettle with brass acorn finial, $150
- Anichini San Miguel merino wool throw, $175
- Vintage chartreuse table lamp with gold details, $150
- Antique cerise French style accent chair, $100
- Authentic vintage purple overdyed Turkish rug (9ft x 5.5ft), $1000
- White Dorothy Draper style espana dresser, $725
As you can see there are a couple splurges up there, but I completely believe investing in quality is always wise. I definitely fell into lower price traps where I should have paid more attention to quality. It’s why there’s a cheap rolled up and stuffed in the corner of my dining room. I’d rather slowly purchase good furniture than speed through and get pieces I’m going to throw out. I admit for my first place it made since to just get things in room. Now that I have everything I need, I can slowly start replacing the items that I don’t care for/ are aging terribly. I’ll totally spend $100 on a great chair or $200 on a beautiful pouf!
