Hello everyone!
Last week + the weekend was full of photo shoots. I took Monday off to give myself a breather and am now editing a massive amount of photos.
The photos won’t be out for a while but I did want to share some of the floral arrangements used! These are simple little flower centerpieces that can be used to decorate your Easter or spring table. They are perfect for adding splashes of color to undecorated coffee table, counter or bookcase as well. Each of the arrangements only took a few minutes to setup. You won’t need any flower training or fancy florist tools!
For each of the five arrangements, I’ll share a quick overview of the vase/vessel and how to cut flowers to the perfect length. I used mainly ranunculus and a few anemones to create the arrangements. Both are extremely popular during springtime and can be found anywhere. I found these at the farmers market and Trader Joe’s!
The Teacup – This is my absolute favorite. Most people don’t think to use anything but vases, but you can turn anything into a flower vessel. A teacup is an elegant way to show of dainty flowers. You simply cut the buds short enough to rest gently on the rim of the cup. You can fill in the space along the rim or fill in the entire teacup. I added flowers just halfway around and then place one small ranunculus on the saucer.
Vintage and tarnished– I love using vintage vases or vessels for flowers. The antiqued material contrasted with a fresh flower is beautiful. This little vase has a small round opening, but the feet give it added height and character. For this arrangement, I cut some of the flowers to hang over the rim, added a little bit of the leaves as filler and then stacked a few more buds on top. The flowers will stay propped up on their own and stay beautiful even as the flowers being to droop and decay.
Fluted vase – This type of vase is perfect for squeezing in a few more flowers. It’s wider mouth allows larger blooms to look proportionate to the shape of the vase. This vintage crystal vase is great for adding more color to the table by showcasing the green stems. For this arrangement, cut the flowers to be about 1/3 larger than the vase.
A Trio of Bud Vases – Bud vases are amazing and simple for flower novices. We used these for our wedding to line our long banquet tables. Use bud vases in clusters of three at varying heights and shapes. You can find basic bud vases at craft stores, floral supply stores or more unusual bud vases in really any decor store. They are inexpensive and don’t require a lot of flowers to fill. You can cut flowers to rest on the rim for shorter vases or stand a few inches above for taller vases.
The Trophy – I love using this style of vase for medium size arrangements. It’s shape is very forgiving for flowers cut too short or too long. It is best to vary the height of the flowers and create an asymmetrical placement of the flowers. You can add in wild branches, or long leafy stems. The copper/bronze color works great with warm oranges, corals, white flowers.
There you have it! Five simple flower arrangements to use for your Easter or spring celebrations. Take inventory of what vases or vessels you already own and choose the best option for its shape. You don’t have to spend a ton of money on flowers either. A couple bouquets (and flowers are cheaper in spring) will do the trick!
