Happy Monday everyone!
Today’s post is a little delayed, apologies. Yesterday my friend Ana and I hosted our very first workshop with Feastly in San Francisco! I can’t wait to share photos with you and a little recap. Until then you can follow our hashtag #instabrunchsf to see everyone’s wonderful photos. I think folks really enjoyed learning about styling and Instagram :)
Last week I shared a simple and colorful DIY on Casa and Company and here it is for Planning Pretty readers!
Here’s what you’ll need:
- Assorted cardstock in a color scheme of your choice, Michaels has a large variety available
- Paper cutter
- Hot glue gun
- String or twine from a craft or hardware store
- Clear tape
- Scissors
- Wrapping paper, Paper Source, Target and Michaels have great options
First choose your color scheme and make sure you have enough sheets of cardstock. Pinwheels typically need 2-3 sheets each depending on the size. Next use the paper cutter to slice a sheet of cardstock in half (portrait/vertical) so that there two long strips of cardstock.
Fold each strip like an accordion, back and forth. Connect the strips with a little hot glue and carefully hold together with your fingers. Pull the ends around to create a circle, secure with hot glue. Pinch the center to form the pinwheel shape and add more glue. Hold for few seconds while it dries.
To create different sizes create narrow or wider strips. Wider will require more strips to make a full circle. Hole punch or tape twine to one end and secure to a backdrop or wall with more tape. Wrapping paper is a wonderful inexpensive backdrop. Hang pinwheels in front and grab camera!
I took down this backdrop once I finished the post, but I think I’ll put it back up again and take a few polaroid photos! I love my pair of flamingos from Home Depot :)
This week myself and my lovely assistant (Mr. Planning Pretty), are painting my studio! Devine Color sent over lots of beautiful silky paint to use. Finally, I can start moving in furniture and organizing all the props and materials. I’ll share updates on Instagram and post later this week on Planning Pretty too!
Have a wonderful week :)
