Just in time for the summer holidays, we have our patio set ready! We’re spending a lot of our time at the cottage enjoying the warm weather and needed to create a comfy outdoor lounge on the deck. It’s been tough finding sets that would fit on our wrap around deck. I was excited to partner with Joss & Main again to bring our deck to life. A lot of outdoor furniture is super chunky and oversized which was not going to work for our space. We have about eight feet between the deck siding and the house. The corner looking out to the forest was going to be the best arrangement so that there’s still plenty of room to play and walk around.
My other big factor was finding a patio set washable cushions. I know there are going to spills, chalk, paw prints, plus stuff that just falls out the trees above. I wanted easy to remove cushions that we can bring inside if its damp outside too.
And my last consideration, but certainly not least, was finding a set made from natural materials. I try to use real material in our home wherever possible. It’s so important for our family and Milo’s health. I needed to find natural wood furniture that can also endure the outdoors and be covered in harsh weather.

My inspiration for the color comes from our frequent visitors, the blue jays. They have a gorgeous sapphire blue color and are so friendly and sing in the trees surrounding the cottage. They are stunning creatures and they often land on our deck for a little bird seed snack. It’s hard to snap a photo of the blue jays because they are quick!
We are so happy to sit outdoors and enjoy the forest setting at the cottage. I have a new space to enjoy all the nature, read and sip tea. Cocktails are on the way for those warm summer nights. Our family and friends can’t wait to visit this summer!
