Last week we visited SF for the first time since we moved. Naturally it was cloudy and raining almost the entire trip. We didn’t mind the rain though. Somehow it mirrored our feelings during the trip. It was refreshing to visit again, yet we do miss the city and our hearts ached a little.
I snapped a few photos when it was safe to pull my camera out of its rain protecting bag. My photos are a bit grey, but as you’ll see, San Francisco seems to shine in the grayness. I compare it to Paris, a place I also don’t mind walking around when it rains.
We stayed with our dear friends Ana + Patrick. They are such talented hosts, providing impressive spreads of food. I love their neighborhood so much and wish we could have found a reasonable place to live there. We have a few more friends nearby and it was lovely to catch up.
My favorite flower shop, The Bud Stop. I always have to pick up a bouquet when I pass by. In the rain the colors were so vibrant and cheery.
Sunday was spent brunching and window shopping of course. We wandered around one of our favorite areas Cow Hollow and Pacific Heights. Hiking up those hills to get spectacular views of the Golden Gate is not easy!
I spent most of the time wishing we could win the Power Ball and finally afford a pastel-colored Victorian near Alamo Square. I did pick up macarons from my favorite place in the city, Chantal Guillon and quickly hopped back in the car to escape the rain. Hayes Valley is a must stop. It’s full of cafes, shops, desserts, it’s amazing. I noticed the neighborhood is changing still, but it’s holding onto its little quirks and charms.
We’ll see you again soon San Francisco. There are still so many old friends to grab a coffee with and reconnect. Maybe it’ll rain next time too.
