One of my first posts on Planning Pretty was a guide for Gatsby home decor. In honor of my humble beginnings and the film’s release this week, I’ve created a new Gatsby design scheme! I can’t tell you how excited I am to see this movie. I’m a huge fan of Leo, Toby and the director Baz. Great movies like this makes me miss working in the entertainment industry.
Now this one is completely different from the first Gatsby Takeover and not just because I’m way better at building boards!
Art deco wallpaper from Bradbury, $31/yard // Pearl & flower pendant light from Ikea, $40 // Josephine Baker poster from Art.com, $60 // Gold deer head from Z Gallerie, $75 // Edie Velvet Chaise from Urban Outfitters, $650 // Penguin Classics F. Scott Fitzgerald collection via Amazon, prices vary // Golden lotus lamp from Lulu & Georgia, $235.
I’m taking a break from the feminine pink filled decor I usually create, to show off my taste for masculine design. Hey, my husband gave this design two thumbs up! Yes there are still feminine elements, but I believe that’s necessary for the time period. I love how opulent and gilded the 20s were! And I had to throw in a poster from one of my favorite performers during that time, Josephine Baker!
I’ve been dying to design a sophisticated gentlemen’s cave fit for a man like Gatsby. Can’t you picture him drinking an old fashioned as Daisy lounges on the chaise?
