Decorating a tree is one of my favorite holiday activities! This year is our first Christmas as husband and wife so we wanted to make decorating special. After searching our new neighborhood for a lovely noble fir, we invited friends & family over for a tree decorating party!
It was so simple to put this together. We had all of our ornaments and decor pulled out from storage ahead of time, stocked our bar, baked cookies and served lots of pretty candy canes!
Preparing a whole meal isn’t necessary since everyone is moving around constantly. If you throw a party earlier in the day, then light bite-size snacks are nice to serve. But, if you’re inviting everyone over later in the evening (after dinner) then desserts and drinks are perfect.
Having the extra hands makes decorating so much easier. We bought the most tedious ornaments that required us to thread each one with gold string!
A decorating party is perfect for friends who live away from home. Everyone loves decorating a tree and putting up stockings. If they can’t help put up their families’ decor than you can all do it together! You can also ask everyone to bring an ornament to add to your tree. It’s a great way to build a ornament collection that represents everyone special to you.
Are you helping anyone put their tree up this year? Or maybe you could use the help! I know there are a few early birds who are already done! I’d love to feature your decorated trees in my future post! Please send photos to hello@planningpretty.com
