St. Patrick’s Day is next Tuesday folks!
If you’re short on time to DIY and bake I have a couple quick projects you can try out to celebrate this happy green holiday. Today I’m sharing a rainbow ribbon party hoop you can hang over a dessert table or bar. I think it’s a great way to add a little pop of rainbow to your celebration. Click “Read more” for the full DIY materials and steps.
Be sure to visit Casa and Company tomorrow for another DIY! It’s a pretty play on words for “pots of gold” that are perfect for St. Patty or the arrival of spring. Monday, I’ll have a quick cupcake recipe that you can use for office parties or a treat to go with that green beer on the 17th.
Total time = 30 minutes | Cost = about $7
Materials needed
- Ribbon spools in a variety of rainbow shades, at least 1/4 inch thick
- Fabric shears or sharpened scissors
- Loom knitting hoop, available in a variety of sizes
- Study twine or string for hanging
- Hook or strong adhesive tape for hanging
First determine where you want to hang the ribbon hoop once it’s completed. Measure the height so you know how much ribbon to cut for each strand. I made my strands about two feet in length. Start with one color and cut 5 or more strands of ribbon. Tie a double knot around the loom.
Space out each strand so you have enough room to complete the rainbow pattern of ribbon. Repeat the process with each color of ribbon. I chose to use ribbon of all the same width for project, but in the past I’ve used a variation of sizes (like my wedding).
Now for hanging! Cut three pieces of twine at the length you need the hoop to drop down from the ceiling. Tie each piece an equal distance apart to the hoop. Then, tie the three ends together into a knot. Hang on a hook from the ceiling or secure with a strong adhesive tape.
Simple, colorful and doesn’t break the bank :)
